Ben Duncan is a Vancouver-based artist creating comics, illustrations and sculpture. He has a penchant for narratives of transformation and metamorphosis, including thematic outings such as: large or medium-scale entities being overrun by tiny arbiters, continued existence in extreme physical and mental states which initially seemed convincingly fatal, and heinous monsters revealing their own insecurities and affirmations about life through surprisingly tender displays of articulation. His passion is in presenting the beauty of what lies on the inside of a sentient being, either by showing it split down the middle and flopped open butterfly-style, or by the honest effort of its own expression of a given emotional state. Often the former is conveyed with more ease, but it is the latter that lies at the heart of his most ardent desire as a creator. His work has been featured in the Best American Comics Anthology series in 2015 for Blane Throttle and in 2017 for his self-published Ball Means 1 collection.
