ABOUT US

The ArtBreakers Market is hosted and organized by the ArtBreakers Illustration Society – a non-profit group founded by four artist friends: Laura Bifano, Graeme McCormack, Tim Mack, and Tessa Riecken. ArtBreakers was created to provide illustrators and designers with an event and community that is their own. The ArtBreakers Market aims to showcase some of the best image-makers in Vancouver city and invites the public to meet some of the industry pros who don’t always go to the cons.

FAQ

How do I get involved as a volunteer or artist?
Thank you for your interest! Please contact any of our directors for more info about volunteer opportunities or artist applications. They are all very friendly and not scary.

Why make another art market in Vancouver?

Vancouver is home to many animation, gaming, and movie studios. As a result we have a ton of talented and amazing artists living and working in the city. While there are shows such as VanCaf, FanExpo, anime cons, and craft fairs, there are few events that focus on illustration and design.
After talking with many artist friends, we, (Laura, Graeme, Tim and Tessa) decided to create an event that would provide artists, who don’t necessarily fit into comics or crafts, with an opportunity to promote and sell original work and meet other professional illustrators, designers, and freelancers. Thus, ArtBreakers Illustration Society was born!
We are an official nonprofit society and want to provide and encourage more professional artists working across the industry, both in studios and as freelancers at home, to come out and showcase their creative works in a community space.
